Membership Information
Members of the Sandhouse Crew come from all over southern Wisconsin. Much of our membership is centered around the Madison, Wisconsin area, but we have members from as far away as Tomah, Baraboo, Dubuque, and Franklin. Meetings are held in round-robin style once roughly a month at members’ houses, and we set up our modular layout 2-3 times a year at area shows. Our normal meeting date is the third Saturday each month (the main exception being the month of shows). Prospective members are required to come to a regular business meeting before participating in a show.

Membership in the Sandhouse Crew comes with many benefits. These include attending and voting at membership meetings, running trains on the club layout during train shows, free entrance to certain train shows where the SWSC is displaying (provided the member helps set up, tear down, and run the SWSC layout), participating in club railfan trips, and discounts at some local hobby stores when you show your SWSC membership card.

Members can also design and build their own modules to contribute to the club layout. Have you ever wanted to be able to run 100 car trains, but don't have the space for your own huge layout? Well, simply by building a small section of the club layout, you could still be able to run long trains when that module is made a part of the bigger club layout. The Standards page of this website can give a good idea of what modules are typically like and how they are to be built, and more details on construction can be furnished when you join the club. Module construction is certainly not a requirement however, and if you do not wish to build modules you do not have to do so. However, it is asked that you still come to set up and stay for tear down of shows as possible to help out other members who do have modules and help with club-owned modules.

Dues in the Sandhouse Crew are $36 per year for adults, plus a one-time initiation fee of $25. We also have a family rate of $36 per year for the first adult plus $18 dollars per year for each additional spouse and/or child(ren) 12 years or older who wish to join the SWSC. New members then begin a 6 month probationary period.
